Longsands is a sandy beach break with peaks along its length at every tide, often better on the higher half. The inside suits beginners and surf schools on longboards and soft-tops, and the heavier peaks further out suit a shortboard. It wants a north-easterly swell and a westerly wind. A rip runs by the rocks at the south end, and it gets busy at weekends.
