Shifting sandbar peaks at the north and south ends that can turn hollow, surfed on a shortboard or longboard depending on the tide and size. Mid to high on the push is best. On big high tides the waves hit the boulders and bounce off the promenade, and the beach is cut off. Above about 6ft it gets out of hand. The rips are permanent, so beginners need someone with them.
