A long beach of shifting sandbars that picks up more swell than anywhere nearby, so it’s the call when Lahinch is flat. Its peaks are powerful and often hollow, best on the middle banks, with rights at the south end and heavy close-outs once it’s overhead. A shortboard wave for intermediate and better surfers. It works through the tide, usually best from mid to high. It wants a westerly to north-westerly swell and an easterly to south-easterly wind. The rips are notoriously strong.
