The northern of Bude’s two beaches, where the sand is broken up by patches and fingers of rock. Low to mid tide is best, when the banks give hollow, punchy waves, with rights at the north end and lefts to the south. As the tide pushes in, the rocks cover and the beach shrinks. Beginners can manage the middle of the bay when it’s small, but rocks and rips make it one for intermediates and up once it’s bigger. It wants a westerly to north-westerly swell and an easterly wind.
