Coldingham Bay

A small sandy bay with a few rocks, a hollow left off the north end and peaks that move with the banks. The waves are short, punchy and often dumpy. St Abb’s Head blocks the northerly swell, so it needs a big north-easterly to easterly one. It works through the tide, often best low to mid, and is offshore in a westerly. Learners keep to the whitewater on small days; intermediates surf out back. Rips when big.
